St Catherine bus conductor charged with rape
Police have charged a 50-year-old bus conductor after a woman alleged she was lured to a house with a job offer and sexually assaulted in Old Harbour, St Catherine, in November 2019.
Charged is Shalton Bailey, otherwise called ‘Owie’, of Mickelton Meadows, Linstead in the parish, the police said in a statement issued Thursday.
According to reports from the Spanish Town Police, Bailey met a woman at a bar and offered her a job. The woman later accompanied him to a nearby house so he could retrieve a key.
While at the premises, Bailey allegedly locked the woman inside and sexually assaulted her.
The matter was subsequently reported to the police.
Following an investigation, Bailey was taken into custody.
He was later charged after a question-and-answer session conducted in the presence of his attorney.
