GOLF: World number one female player to donate winnings to Nepal quake victims

Lydia Ko, the world number one in women's golf, has announced she will donate her winnings from this week's North Texas Shootout to help victims of the recent earthquake in Nepal.

More than 5,000 people have been killed in Nepal as a result of the earthquake that occurred on Saturday, with that figure anticipated to rise.

Ko, who claimed her seventh professional title at last week's Swinging Skirts LPGA Classic and has yet to miss a cut in 50 starts on the LPGA Tour, will now seek to aid funding efforts set up in response to the tragedy.

Ko announced in her AM press conference that she will be donating her winnings at this week's Nepal Earthquake relief event.

Ko earned $270,000 for her most recent victory, while the total purse for this week's event is $1.3 million.
