Western Bureau:

Vassell Reynolds, coach of defending champions Rusea's High, says he takes full responsibility after the school failed to get past the second round of the ISSA/WATA daCosta Cup yesterday.

Rusea's lost out on the away goals rule following a 4-4 aggregate score with Mile Gully High. The defending champions won 3-2 at home but had lost the opening leg 2-1.

Jhevoy Diaz (34th and 39th) and Lenroy Anderson (48th) gave Rusea's one foot into the quarterfinals but Dantae Larmond (64th) and Javel Coley (82nd) fought back to give Mile Gully a historic quarterfinals appearance.

"As a coach, you have to take some sort of responsibility when my team performs below par so yes I am fully responsible for what happened today," said Reynolds.

"As you saw today, we should have won by six or seven clear goals but such is the nature of the game. The fellows tried but it just went wrong for us so all of us have to take responsibility. I will be the first to do so as the head of the ship," he added.

With the score at 3-0 and his team in front on aggregate, Reynolds had to make two changes because of injuries.

"We were forced to make two changes that we probably didn't want to make at that time. We felt that the energy of the team fell when they came off ..." said Reynolds

"Honestly speaking we wanted just a goal with a clean sheet (to go through). After 55 minutes we were 3-0 up, I thought that the players might have figured that it was over," he added.

Charlemont High, on the other hand, overturned a 2-1 deficit with a 3-0 victory over Browns Town High yesterday in the first match of a double header at Dinthill. In the second game, Dinthill's blanked Herbert Morrison 5-0 to advance 11-0 on aggregate.
