PASSIONATE, DEMANDING, deserving.

Head coach Theodore Whitmore, assistant coach Damion Ferguson, and midfielder Demario Phillips are focused on finally rewarding the supporters of Mount Pleasant for their loyalty and dedication by finally achieving their goal of winning the Jamaica Premier League title.

Mount Pleasant will face Cavalier in tonight’s final at 7:00 p.m. at Sabina Park, looking to cap off a season where they finally broke through to the title game after years of playoff exits.

In Whitmore’s first season at the Drax Hall-based club, he said that while their supporters have been the most demanding, they have also been the most passionate. He is pleased that they will able to experience a final after several near misses

TOUGH FANS

“St Ann fans are one of the hardest to please, very hard. At this point when they realise what is really happening (being in a final), then it will sink in. It is always important to have people come out and support the team, and we are looking forward to that (this afternoon),” Whitmore said.

Ferguson, well-travelled across the island, has been impressed by the level of support the club has garnered and believes that winning the title will be a worthy reward for their loyalty

“I’ve been to almost every parish in Jamaica where football is concerned. St Ann people are mad lovers of football. They support their team to the ground. I think it is deserving of them,” Ferguson said.

“They are the only team outside of the Corporate Area that can pull the level of support that Mount Pleasant can bring to any stadium. They light up any environment. I think, for them, they are deserving.”

Although Mount Pleasant fans are demanding, Phillips said the style of football that they play has endeared them to the fans.

“The football on the park speaks for itself. So the entertaining football that we play, that’s what they like to see. So it is not hard for them to travel so far to watch us play, and they are getting the results that they want,” Phillips said.

While Whitmore wants the team to enjoy the moment, they are committed to the goal of success, which both Whitmore and Ferguson set out at the start of the season.
