DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (CMC):

WEST INDIES leg spinner Jomel Warrican has catapulted 12 spots up the ICC Test rankings following his historic performance in the first Test against Pakistan at the Multan Cricket Stadium.

Despite the West Indies 127-run loss inside three days, Warrican grabbed 7-32 in the second innings and finished with match figures of 10-101, the best bowling figures by a West Indian at the venue and third best by a visiting bowler.

In the latest rankings, the 32-year-old Warrican moved from 53rd to 41st, surpassing his previous best ranking of 50th.

Fast bowler Jayden Seales remains the highest ranked West Indian bowler at number 12, with Kemar Roach the next highest at 19.

Pacer Alzarri Joseph dropped three spots to 33rd, while Jason Holder slipped two places to 34th.

Meanwhile, West Indies middle-order batsman Alick Athanaze was the biggest mover in the batting rankings, leaping 14 spots to 60th on the back of his 55 in the second innings against Pakistan.

However, Test skipper Kraigg Brathwaite slipped two spots to 52nd after his batting struggles continued in the first Test.
