AFTER 19 rounds of matches in the 2024-25 Jamaica Premier League season, five-time champions Harbour View have found themselves in the unenviable position of cellar dwellers.

The club has now taken the bold decision to bring in reinforcements. The reinforcements include three players who helped the club to lift the title in 2022 – Colorado Murray, Timar Lewis and Trayvone Reid. According to technical director of the club, Ludlow Bernard, the players reached out to the club in a bid to help them salvage the remainder of the season.

“The positive thing about this is that they all volunteered for the cause of the club and to make their services available. This is to get us out of this slump and then see where it goes from there. Their influence has been very strong in the dressing room and I give them credit for that,” Bernard said.

Forward Murray rejoins the team having spent the 2022-23 season in El Salvador representing Fuerte San Francisco where he featured in 19 games getting on the score-sheet on one occasion. Attacking midfielder Reid returns after his time in the USL Championship where he featured for the Oakland Roots registering four goals in 59 matches while winger Lewis is back after his stint in the Bosnia and Herzegovina second division representing FK Slobada MrKonjic Grad.

UPBEAT MOOD

“The mood in the camp is very upbeat and their influence is very strong. They’re demanding top effort from all of the players and I know that’s the impact that they bring,” he stated.

Bernard, a title-winning coach with Harbour View, shared that they had to bolster the squad which has won only three of their 19 games played while losing 12 and drawing four.

“Clearly, the playing staff that we have could do with an upgrade. One or two of our better players are struggling with injuries and this has set us back. It’s all about getting consistency going forward and we hope we can achieve that with the introduction of these players,” Bernard said.

Bernard added that the season still has a long way to go and he saw signs from their last match that there’s enough in the tank to change their fortunes this season.

“We have to be confident. The players are upbeat and we were unfortunate against Waterhouse as we put in a workmanlike performance. We had a lot of positives and we’ll use that as a stepping stone for the upcoming games,” he said.
