Treasure Beach prepared for ‘excellent’ Racing United
Having picked up their first win in five games, Treasure Beach will now turn their sights on what head coach Kemar Ricketts described as a ‘tough match’ against Racing United today in Wray and Nephew-sponsored Jamaica Premier League (JPL) action.
Treasure Beach will travel to Racing at Ferdi Neita Park while Dunbeholden will host Molynes United at the Dunbeholden Sports Complex for match week 17.
Both games are set to kick off at 3 p.m.
Ricketts will be hoping for a second consecutive win for Treasure Beach as they look to move up the table.
They defeated Molynes 2-1 on Sunday, which saw them climbing out of the relegation zone with 15 points.
“It was a very important three points for us, especially after coming off a four-game losing streak,” Ricketts said.
“It was very, very important for us to move a step further to remaining in the Premier League.”
Ricketts is aware that today’s fixture will be one of their toughest this season as they go head-to-head against second-placed Racing.
When the two teams met in the first round of the season, Racing walked away comfortable 4-2 victors.
Ricketts is hoping to avoid a repeat of the score though he said they would be treating their opponents as they would any other team.
“The preparation for them is no different from any other team because all teams in the Premier League are very good and organised opponents,” he said.
“There are no easy points out there, so the preparations remain the same as how we’d prepare for every team, which is treating every game as a final for us,” he continued.
“It’s all about being concentrated for that 90 minutes against Racing because they are an excellent team. In the first encounter, we lost 4-2, but this is a different game, and we’re looking to get something positive from the game.”
For Racing, a win today would see them keep the pressure on for the league’s top spot as they sit second with 29 points, three behind league leaders Montego Bay United on 32.
The Anthony Patrick-led team are also hunting for their first win in four games, having drawn against Harbour View, Arnett Gardens, Waterhouse, and Mount Pleasant.
A win would see them pull level on points with MoBay, however, they would take the top spot with a greater goal difference.
In the other match of the afternoon, Dunbeholden and Molynes are both seeking to recover from defeats in their last outing.
Dunbeholden sit ninth in the table with 17 points, ahead of Molynes who are 11th with 16.
The last time the two teams faced off, Dunbeholden ran out 2-0 victors.
