Do you think Jamaica is spending too much money on the prince's visit?
I know our economy is struggling, but I believe spending money on hosting a royal guest should be acceptable, compared to other wasted efforts. When he leaves, he should be just as impressed when he compares us to First-World country visits.

Almost any visit by the Royals will bring other visitors to Jamaica and mean more money spent in the country. Don't be silly and bite off your nose to spite your face. After all, they have to at least eat while visiting.

I have a random thought. If the British Empire really cared, wouldn't it ask us for an invoice for covering the costs of the visit and commit to meeting those costs? A rich man visits in style at the cost of a POOR, INDEBTED country.

Too much money spent! They paved the entire hospital, which was not necessary, and even the bus stops on Arthur Wint Drive.

Yes, we all agree that Jamaica is in crisis and we, too, have our own issues in England, so Jamaica is not the only country in debt, unemployment, saddled with crime, etc. Most countries are still in recession or are heading towards it.
- Heather Esson
We need to fix up the place, even when there is no visitor. Why are we pretending everything is OK when he's here? He should know the truth: that Jamaica has been going backwards since we became independent, so spending so much money to pretend makes no sense!
