PNP councillor calls for investigation of wrecking service

People National Party (PNP) councillor for the Duhaney Park division has called for an independent investigation into reported irregularities surrounding the wrecking service at the Kingston and St. Andrew Corporation (KSAC).

Kevin Taylor wants Mayor, Desmond McKenzie to have the Contractor General and Auditor General conduct an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the wrecking service.

Mr. Taylor also wants the Mayor and the town clerk to say if they are aware of any councillor or staff member being involved in the illegal activity.

Last week, Mr. McKenzie announced the suspension of the towing of illegally parked vehicles for two weeks.

Mr. McKenzie said the suspension was to facilitate a review of the towing service.

The KSAC terminated the services of one of its contractors, A and G Wrecking Services following reports of its involvement in certain illegal activities.
