Reggae Girlz in tough group
Jamaica will kick-off against top rated Mexico when the 2008 CONCACAF Women’s Under 17 football championship starts in mid-July in Trinidad and Tobago.
The Young Reggae Girlz will face the Mexicans on July 17 at the Dwight Yorke Stadium in Tobago.
The Jamaicans, drawn in a very tough Group ‘B’, will also face Canada on July 19 and Puerto Rico on July 21.
Hosts Trinidad and Tobago have been drawn in Group ‘A’ and will play alongside Costa Rica, El Salvador and the USA. The tournament runs from July 17 to 26.
The CONCACAF tournament will qualify three teams to the inaugural FIFA Under 17 Women’s World Cup in New Zealand later this year.
Jamaica’s Under-20 team has been drawn in Group ‘B’ for the 2008 CONCACAF Women’s football championships next month in Mexico. The tournament will run from June 17 to 28.
Jamaica will play alongside Canada, Costa Rica and Nicaragua.
Hosts Mexico have been drawn in Group ‘A’ with Cuba, Trinidad and Tobago and defending champions USA.
That tournament will qualify three teams to the FIFA Under 20 Women’s World Cup in Chile later this year.
