Former WI selector urges Gayle to sit out series

Former convener of West Indies selectors Joey Carew believes the injured Chris Gayle should not play in the One-Day series.

Carew made his comment yesterday after witnessing Gayle’s performance against Australia.

Gayle has not fully recovered from a groin injury he picked up during the series against Sri Lanka in April.

Prior to yesterday’s One-Day, Gayle only played one game in the current series, the third Test at Kensington Oval in Barbados.

Carew said the selectors should pick a young player instead of having a half fit player in the team.
