Minister with responsibility for Local Government Robert Montague says a submission is to be made to the Cabinet for changes to the laws governing the payment of property taxes.

Montague says the property tax compliance rate now stands at 52 per cent.

He says the changes to the law are being proposed in an effort to improve this compliance rate.

Montague says the process to get property owners to pay outstanding taxes after the five-year grace period is too lengthy.

He says a list of delinquent landowners will be published on Sunday.
