The first of two Town Hall meetings to discuss the review of Jamaica\'s libel and slander laws is scheduled for today.

The meeting will be conducted by a committee led by Justice Hugh Small, and will be held at the Northern Caribbean University\'s main auditorium in Mandeville, Manchester.

Members of the public are invited to share their views on how Jamaica\'s libel and slander laws should be changed to facilitate greater investigative journalism.

The committee is also expected to make recommendations aimed at providing reasonable protection against false and damaging publication.

The second meeting will be held at the Holy Cross Church Hall in Kingston next week Thursday.

The review committee has been given until the end of February to submit its report to the Prime Minister.
