Gov\'t to create more IT jobs
The government is to provide more jobs in Information Technology (IT), through an expansion of the sector.
Industry and Commerce Minister, Karl Samuda said Cabinet has approved plans for the structural expansion of the industry.
Mr. Samuda was speaking at the Private Sector Organisation of Jamaica (PSOJ) Job Creation Awards ceremony this morning.
According to Mr. Samuda the expansion will allow for the development of several technology centres across the island.
He is also considering the establishment of another IT centre in Naggo Head, St. Catherine.
Mr. Samuda said the government would also be looking at ways to develop the Kingston Free Zone, in an attempt to make it the commercial hub of the Caribbean.
He also said a Financial Centre is to be established in Kingston to create jobs for university graduates.
