A Westmoreland resident has been charged for allegedly setting the Grange Hill home of a woman on fire on Boxing Day last year following an argument.

Charged with arson is 25-year-old Kimberly Wedderburn, otherwise called ‘Kim’, a domestic worker of Linton Pen in Grange Hill.

Her court date is being finalised.

Reports from the Savanna-la-Mar police are that about 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 26, 2025, the complainant was with relatives and friends at her home along Belle Isle Road when an argument developed with Wedderburn.

According to the police, she later left the area, allegedly threatening to set the house on fire.

Shortly after, she was seen entering the yard with a bottle, and a sound similar to a bottle breaking was heard, the police reported.

The police say that moments later, the house was seen engulfed in flames.

The police were alerted, and residents, along with employees from a nearby factory, attempted to extinguish the fire.

However, the house and its contents, valued at over $800,000, were destroyed.

Following an investigation and positive identification through a witness statement, Wedderburn was taken into custody and formally charged.
