Jamaican athletes will contest the finals of two events at the IAAF World Athletics Championship in Doha Qatar today.

They will be seeking to add to the seven medals – two gold, three silver and two bronze – Jamaica has already won at the championship.

The Jamaican quartet of four-time world 100m champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, Natasha Morrison, Natalliah Whyte and Jonielle Smith will be in the final of the Women’s 4x100 Metres Relay, which is set for 2:05pm local time.

They won their first-round heat in a season’s best time of 42.11 seconds.

Their male counterparts failed to advance to the final.

Shanieka Ricketts and Kimberly Williams will also be seeking places on the medal podium when they compete in the Women's Triple Jump final set for 12:35pm.

Ricketts qualified automatically with a first-round effort of 14.42 metres while Williams got into the final with a jump of 14.20 metres.

In the meantime Jamaica’s Danielle Williams will begin her championships in the first round of the Women's 100m Hurdles.

That event begins at 9:15am local time.

Williams, the 2015 World Champion and the world leader in the event this year, will line up in lane five of heat number three.

Megan Tapper and Yanique Thompson are the other Jamaicans who will compete in heats one and two respectively.

Jamaica’s men’s and women’s 4x400 metres relay teams and long jumpers Chanice Porter and Tissanna Hickling will also be seeking to advance to the final of their respective events.

Porter and Hickling will be in the qualification round of the Women's Long Jump, which is set to start at 9:50am.

The heats of the women's and men's 4x400 metres relays are scheduled to commence at 11:55am and 12:25pm respectively.
