McDonald eyes 400m glory
Jamaican 400-metre national champion and record holder Rusheen ‘Big Boy’ McDonald says he is eyeing a special performance in the final of the men’s 400m at the Tokyo World Athletics Championships.
“Tomorrow, I’m going for that final,” he said after the semifinal round.
McDonald will be Jamaica’s lone competitor in the event after qualifying from semifinal two in a season’s best 44.04 seconds.
His compatriots Bovel McPherson and Delano Kennedy, however, failed to advance, posting times of 44.99s and 44.97s, respectively.
McDonald raised some concern among fans after limping off the track.
He was, however, quick to confirm he was not injured, but had suffered a minor cramp.
The final is set for Thursday at 8:10 a.m. Jamaica time.
