Hinds returns to Kensington presidency
FORMER WEST Indies cricketer Wavell Hinds has been returned unopposed as president of the Kensington Cricket Club, marking the start of his second consecutive three-year term.
This follows a historic constitutional change by the club, extending the tenure of elected officials from one year to three years to enhance continuity and strategic development.
Hinds expressed gratitude for the continued confidence placed in his leadership.
“I’m humbled and grateful for the trust and belief placed in me by my clubmates. Continued service to this great institution is a small gesture that I can return in comparison to the enormous support and benefits that I’ve received. Many thanks to my management committee members and our membership at large. We will continue to serve and protect our beautiful game and its players.”
Hinds also noted that the Senior Cup (Michael Holding Cup) win was also an exciting run for the team and he looks forward to more success on and off the field.
Joining the president for the new term is an executive team made up of Radcliffe Daley, first vice president; David Bernard Jr, second vice president;
Carole Beckford, honorary secretary; Dadrie Nichol, treasurer; Denniel Griffiths, assistant secretary/treasurer; Brian Blair, Club Captain; and Whycllife Cameron, immediate past president.
This leadership team brings a wealth of expertise in cricket administration, sports marketing, finance, and community engagement, aligning with the club’s strategic focus on youth development, infrastructure enhancement, and competitive excellence.
According to its manifesto, the re-elected leadership is committed to upholding this legacy while modernising operations to meet the evolving needs of players, supporters, and the wider community.
The Kensington Cricket Club, established in 1879, continues to play a vital role in the development of cricket in Jamaica.
