CGA Four-Ball Golf Championship takes centre stage

THE CARIBBEAN Golf Association Four-Ball Golf Championship teed off on Friday at the picturesque Cinnamon Hill Golf Course in Montego Bay St James with eight countries and 90 golfers vying for top honours.

It is the sixth staging of the championship but it is being staged in Jamaica for the first time. The three-found, 54-hole championship will end today.

The participating countries are Bahamas, Barbados, Bermuda, Cayman Islands, St Lucia, Turks and Caicos Islands, Trinidad and Tobago and host country Jamaica.

The countries are vying for the Ambrose Gouthro Cup while individuals are vying for male, female, and age-goup ttrophies. The trophies are named after outstanding Caribbean golfers who have contributed to the growth of the sport in the region.

Defending champions Jamaica stand out as the only competitor to have won the country trophy, the Ambrose Gouthro Cup, every staging to date, while there have been individual winners from other countries in some of the categories. Trinidad and Tobago were the runners-up in 2024 after ending on 56 points to Jamaica’s 73. Bermuda were third on 38.

The Jamaica team includes several repeat winners.
