‘We are not struggling’ - Schools see strategic success as they hold out against drought
The once-lush green lawn at the front of Spring Garden Primary and Infant School in St Thomas is now a deep brown. At neighbouring White Hall Primary School, vegetation on the school grounds has dried up, presenting stark evidence of the drought now plaguing the island. However, despite being in one of the most severely impacted parishes, principals at both institutions say they are managing well and that water shortages have not yet caused any major disruptions to their operations.

WASHINGTON, DC (AP): United States President Donald Trump said Sunday that the massive arch he wants to build between the Lincoln Memorial and Arlington National Cemetery would become a “top grade military complex” able to host drones and snipers while storing ammunition. It is one more example of how Trump is insisting that his initiatives to beautify the White House and the city are also serving a defensive purpose. Trump has been calling the new White House ballroom a “military complex” and arguing it is necessary for national security purposes.

President of the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF), Michael Ricketts, says the organisation has been working to ensure that the country’s Under-17 team is fully prepared for this year’s World Cup. The Young Reggae Boyz have been drawn in Group E alongside Italy, Ivory Coast and Uzbekistan for the tournament in Qatar in November. Jamaica will be making their third appearance at an Under-17 World Cup after topping their group in the Concacaf qualifying tournament in Alajuela, Costa Rica, in February.

Solar firm IEG mulls property development to unlock legacy losses
Innovative Energy Group (IEG) wants to enter property development to augment its solar-installation business, and would seek approval to use legacy tax losses from the Ciboney Group, a listed entity it acquired. “The bulk of the losses relates to real estate-related losses, which were the primary activities of Ciboney prior to acquisition,” Executive Chairman Nigel Davy told the Financial Gleaner. “Those losses, of course, are available to be used in a similar kind of business in which those losses were, let me say, achieved.”
