While favoured by many Jamaicans as a destination for shopping and to visit family and friends, Greater Miami and Miami Beach have a dynamic and thriving contemporary art scene that provideanother compelling reason for art aficionados to prioritise the destination when making travel plans.

Greater Miami and Miami Beach showcase world-class exhibitions and permanent installations to rival any global art capital. Here are some of the art spots to check out.

Pérez Art Museum Miami: Caribbean Connections

The Perez Art Museum Miami (PAMM) stands as a must-visit for art lovers, particularly given its Caribbean Cultural Institute that actively promotes art from the region and its diaspora. The museum has a strong tradition of showcasing Caribbean artists.

In 2025,16 British-Jamaican artist Hurvin Anderson’s solo exhibition presented a monument 60-panel painting inspired by Carl Abrahams’ murals at Kingston’s Norman Manley International Airport (NMIA).

Currently on view until June, ‘Woody De Othello: Coming Forth by Day’ features the Miami-born artist of Haitian descent whose ceramic and bronze sculptures explore Afro-Caribbean spiritual traditions through surreal, anthropomorphic forms.

The museum also presents ‘El Monte’ (through March 22), where twin photographers Elliot and Erick Jiménez offer an entirely new body of work inspired by Lucumí, the syncretic Afro-Caribbean religion born in 19th-century Cuba.

Institute of Contemporary Art (ICA)

The Institute of Contemporary Art ICA Miami provides an important international platform for the work of local, emerging, and under-recognised artists. The museum reaffirms a commitment to providing open, public access to artistic excellence by offering year-round free admission.

Current ‘paid’ exhibits include ‘From the Heart to the Hands: Dolce & Gabbana’ which had sell-out showings in Paris, Rome and Milan. This groundbreaking exhibition takes viewers through “a journey into the minds of two of the fashion world’s most celebrated designers in the first ever exhibition of the brand’s most revered creations, tracing the translation of Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana’s ideas from the heart through to their realization, by hand”.

The Bass: Multidisciplinary Excellence

On Miami Beach, The Bass presents ‘Jack Pierson: The Miami Years’ (until August 2026), the first exhibition exploring how this multidisciplinary artist’s photography, sculpture, and installations were shaped by Miami Beach’s culture of glamour, transience, and reinvention.

The museum’s ‘Kaleidoscopic’ exhibition reimagines its permanent collection as a living archive, questioning how museums construct history.

Isaac Julien’s video installation ‘Vagabondia’ challenges colonial narratives through haunting imagery filmed at Sir John Soane’s Museum in London.

Wynwood Walls: Street Art Museum

No Miami art journey is complete without experiencing Wynwood Walls, the world’s largest outdoor street art museum. This free attraction features over 35 hand-sprayed murals by international graffiti legends including Os Gemeos, constantly evolving with new commissions. The surrounding Wynwood Arts District offers the highest concentration of street art in America, with entire warehouse buildings transformed into vibrant canvases.

The Margulies Collection At The Warehouse

A sprawling 50,000-square-foot warehouse in Wynwood has been transformed into a showpiece gallery housing an extraordinary collection of Miami-based art collector Martin Z. Margulies. Open for viewing until March 31, 2026, art lovers should not miss a visit to The Margulies Collection At The Warehouse to explore the exhibitions from Margulies’ collection, including a large selection of photography, sculptures, video and site-specific installations.

Miami’s art scene reflects the city’s multicultural character while maintaining strong Caribbean connections — making it the perfect cultural complement to any visit to Greater Miami and Miami Beach.
