  • Dancehall artiste Craigy T is preparing to release his debut solo studio album in August 2026.

  • With new single ‘Letter to the Lord’ already released, Craigy T says fans can expect a more emotional and introspective sound on his upcoming album.

After two decades of creating hits with dancehall quartet T.O.K., Craigy T is stepping into a new creative chapter as he prepares to release his first full solo studio album in August 2026.

While fans are no strangers to Craigy T’s solo material, the artiste is now preparing to unveil what he describes as a major milestone in his musical journey. He describes the upcoming body of work as a reflection of his evolution both creatively and personally.

Though the album title is still under wraps, Craigy T says the project represents far more than just music.

“The album title is still to be decided, but it symbolises my own personal growth as a creator and more importantly, as a man,” he told The Sunday Gleaner

For many fans, the move into a full solo rollout may come as a surprise, considering the enduring legacy and brotherhood associated with T.O.K. However, according to Craigy T, the transition feels less like a departure and more like a natural continuation of the music itself.

“My music is inspired. My actions are simply those of the vessel that carries said music. Music tells me how it wants to be presented, and I obey. Sometimes Craigy T, sometimes T.O.K.,” he explained.

That philosophy appears to be deeply woven into the direction of the upcoming project. While longtime T.O.K. fans can still expect the signature harmonies and infectious energy they grew up loving, Craigy T promises a more layered and emotionally driven experience this time around.

“Expect rich harmonies, body-moving beats, strong thought-provoking lyrics and an emotional listening experience,” he said.

The ninth month of the year, August, holds specific significance for Craigy T. “Nine signifies completion. I believe the work of my introductory phase is complete. My tribe will have the ultimate say on whether this is the ‘right time’,” he noted.

While many artistes who branch away from groups often wrestle with public expectation and acceptance, Craigy T admitted that fear was once very real for him during the early stages of his solo journey.

“I have been making solo music for a very long time. In the earlier stages, I was very nervous, very fearful, but not anymore. I wouldn't necessarily say I overcame that fear. I just learned to create regardless of it. And with time, I stopped paying attention to it. I'm sure it's still in there... somewhere,” he confessed.

The rollout officially began on May 21 with the release of the project’s first single, titled Letter to the Lord, a deeply introspective track that Craigy T says demands listeners’ full attention.

“It’s one that you have to sit and listen to very carefully. It forces you into self-conversation. There are many gems hidden within this one. Listen to it, and tell me what you hear,” he shared.

Though he remained tight-lipped on specific features, Craigy T hinted that listeners may be surprised.

“You will just have to wait to find out,” he teased when asked about major collaborations on the album.
