Taxi operator gunned down in Portmore

A police search is on for a gunman who shot and killed a taxi operator in the vicinity of the Portmore Mall in St Catherine last night.
The deceased has been identified as 36-year-old Andre McKenzie of Watson Grove in Portmore.
The police reported that about 9:30 p.m., McKenzie was standing on Dawkins Drive among a group of people when he was pounced upon by a man armed with a handgun.
The police said the attacker opened fire, hitting McKenzie in the head.
The gunman then fled the area.
The police responded to the shooting and found McKenzie, who was dressed in black, lying in a pool of blood at a bus bay.
The scene was processed, and the body was removed and pronounced dead.
No motive has been established for McKenzie's killing.
The Portmore Criminal Investigation Branch is probing the matter.
