Clarendon carpenter dies in fiery crash; road death toll climbs to 185

A 30-year-old Clarendon carpenter is the parish's latest road fatality, following a fiery, single-vehicular crash along the Dawkins Pen main road on Wednesday.
The deceased has been identified as Shaquile Campbell of McGilchrist in Toll Gate.
Reports from the Lionel Town police are that about 7:15 pm, Campbell was driving south towards Lionel Town in a black Toyota Corolla Fielder, when, on reaching a section of the roadway, he reportedly lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a tree.
The vehicle subsequently burst into flames. Members of the Jamaica Fire Brigade removed Campbell from the wreckage, and he was transported to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Investigations into the crash are continuing.
In a separate incident, another man was killed in a motor vehicle crash along the Lyssons main road in St Thomas on Wednesday.
Chairman of the National Road Safety Council (NRSC), Dr Lucien Jones, said the latest incidents have pushed the number of road fatalities for July to 39.
Since the start of the year, 185 people have died in road crashes across Jamaica.
