Second man in custody over Zimi Seh Beach altercation

A second man is in police custody in connection with the caught-on-camera altercation that erupted at the Zimi Seh Beach party held at Puerto Seco Beach in Discovery Bay, St Ann, on Sunday, the police have disclosed.

Senior Superintendent Carlos Russell, commanding officer for the St Ann Police Division, confirmed that the man turned himself in to the Runaway Bay Police Station in the parish on Thursday.

He is to face an identification parade, Russell disclosed.

The first suspect was arrested at Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay, St James, on Monday while he waited with his wife to board a flight to the United States, where they reside.

Russell said he was pointed out by the complainants during an identification parade yesterday and that criminal charges could be laid against him today.

Donnovan Collins, the attorney representing the man arrested at the airport, told The Gleaner on Wednesday that “it is clear” his client was not involved in the incident and questioned the fairness of the identification parade.

Two boys, aged 15 and 17, both from Kingston, were injured during the altercation, which was captured on video and has since gone viral.

The incident reportedly started after a splashing incident at the popular party, which led to an argument that quickly escalated into a physical altercation.
