The Meteorological Service of Jamaica is reporting that a broad trough is expected to develop across Jamaica and the western Caribbean on Tuesday, bringing unstable weather conditions and showers and thunderstorms across the island through Saturday.
The agency said the system is expected to produce a large area of disorganised showers and thunderstorms across the region.
Consequently, unstable weather conditions are forecast to begin affecting Jamaica on Tuesday afternoon.
The forecast is for a gradual increase in cloudiness, followed by intermittent showers and thunderstorms, which may be heavy at times, across most parishes through Saturday.
Meanwhile, sea conditions are expected to deteriorate in the vicinity of showers and thunderstorms.
The Met office is advising fishers and other marine interests, particularly those operating inshore and offshore the south coast, to exercise caution.
The agency said it will continue to monitor the system and provide updates as necessary.
