A man was killed and three others injured after being hit by a motor car that subsequently crashed into a gully on Sunday along the Geddes Town main road in St Mary.
The deceased has been identified as 31-year-old Carrington Eulette.
The police report that the incident took place about 2:30 a.m. after the driver of a white Toyota Probox motor car, which was travelling from Geddes Town towards Oxford, lost control of the vehicle and crashed into four pedestrians.
“On reaching a section of the roadway, the driver lost control and collided with four pedestrians and subsequently veered off the road into a nearby gully,” said Superintendent Anthony Wallace, head of the St Mary Police Division.
“All four pedestrians sustained injuries and were transported to the Port Maria Hospital, where Eulette succumbed to his injuries. The other pedestrians, who sustained non-life-threatening injuries, were treated and released from hospital, while the driver of the motor vehicle was not injured,” Wallace added.
He extended condolences to the family of the deceased and wished those injured a speedy recovery.
“Motorists are being urged to exercise due care and attention, observe speed limits, remain vigilant at all times to prevent collisions, and preserve lives on our roadways,” said Wallace.
