We Jammin, Victorious Links for Saturday’s co-features

WE JAMMIN, with Omar Walker in the saddle, is flanked by trainer Peter-John Parsard (left) and groom Frank Spencer after capturing the Wayne DaCosta OD Two-year-old Stakes over a mile at Caymanas Park December 26, 2025.

WE JAMMIN’s sole loss in three starts was, ironically, his best run to date, punching way above his head against foreigners and older local-breds, emerging from the seven-furlong encounter a firm favourite to sweep this season’s top three-year-old races, starting with Saturday’s Prince Consort Stakes at seven furlongs.

Thrown in at the deep end by his connections after outclassing 10 of his peers in the Boxing Day Jamaica Two-Year-Old Stakes, a revved-up WE JAMMIN reported for his 2026 season on March 1, hyper at exercise, galloping six furlongs in 1:13.4, twice dismissing a foreigner, who has since won, OLIVIA D’ORO.

However, WE JAMMIN, still not yet officially three years old, ran smack into a four-year-old foreigner, AMERICAN AVIATOR, who had posted 1:25.4 at seven furlongs on January 10.

A May colt, who debuted as a two-year-old mid-December and landed the Jamaica Two-Year-Old Stakes 13 days later, WE JAMMIN was forced to tackle AMERICAN AVIATOR from the get-go, cranking splits of 34.4, 47.0 and 59.3, swinging for home a length off the foreigner, who had 11 starts and two wins under his girth as a four-year-old.

Going up against a foreigner technically twice his age, WE JAMMIN faltered after five and a half furlongs but ran true and straight to the finish for second, clocking 1:28.0 behind AMERICAN AVIATOR’s 1:26.3.

MULLIGAN MAN, a three-year-od American, who had won his previous race with a late burst to beat compatriot UNBELIEVABLE POWER, finished third, never a threat to runner-up WE JAMMIN.

Having dispensed all that energy chasing AMERICAN AVIATOR, WE JAMMIN was, beyond doubt, the second-best horse in the line-up, which makes him a shoo-in against three-year-old peers in the Prince Consort, runners against whom he literally made every post a winning one from the half-mile in the Jamaica Two-Year-Old Stakes.

The fillies are a bit tougher to decipher in the Thornbird Stakes, considering most would have debuted late last year as two year olds and only two among the lot, ONE IANZHA LINKS and ANOTHER WOW, have won past six furlongs.

What is certain is that the pace will be torrid, with VICTORIOUS LINKS and TAYLOR MADE, bred to sprint, hooking up on the lead as they did when cut down by FERNANDO and ANY MEANS at six furlongs on January 24.

TAYLOR MADE returned to make all at the trip in her follow-up race, beating stablemate DREAM CATCHER and slow-starting GIVING THANKS on March 21 in the fillies-only Hotline Stakes.

However, VICTORIOUS LINKS had returned a month before the Hotline but against colts, who she led to the furlong pole before BIGGER BOSS, fourth in the Jamaica Two-Year-Old Stakes behind WE JAMMIN, SALUTE THE DON, and GOD’S PLAN closed fast to beat her by three lengths.

VICTORIOUS LINKS faced tougher opposition in her prep race for the Thornbird, but her sprint pedigree could leave her exposed to a finisher such as ANOTHER WOW, a full sister to Wow Wow, who won eight consecutive races as a two-year-old, closing 2019 with victory in the Jamaica Two-Year-Old Stakes.

ANOTHER WOW won stretched out at six and a half furlongs after finishing second in three consecutive sprints, suggesting that she could play spoiler against the sprinters TAYLOR MADE and VICTORIOUS LINKS at seven furlongs.
