A 1-1 draw in the second leg of a semifinal was enough for Frazsiers Whip to advance to the final of the Jamaica Women’s Premier League (JWPL). The result meant Frazsiers Whip beat Real Mona 6-1 on aggregate after a dominant 5-0 win in the first leg.

In the second semi-final, Arnett Gardens ran out 5-1 victors over Los Perfectos to earn a date with the defending champions.

Arnett got goals through Shikira Douglas in the second, 18th and 31st minutes of play, as well as through Tuanesha Hamilton in the 71st and Tasheka Reid in the 86th.

Tanesia Vassell scored Los Perfectos’s sole tally in the 51st.

The result meant Arnett ran out 8-3 aggregate winners.

For the three-time defending champions, captain Nevillegail Able opened the scoring in the 12th minute before Breanna Marr pulled Real Mona level with a strike in the 33rd.

Courtney Dowdie, head coach of Frazsiers Whip applauded his team for reaching the final but admitted this was not their best performance this season.

“Today's performance was not the best,” Dowdie admitted in his post-match interview.

“I was wary of today's game, seeing that we'd have won the first leg 5-0. It was a similar result like last year's semifinal we won the first game five and the second game we won 1-0.”

Dowdie continued, “We were due a bad game and today was the bad game. Mona played well and I must give credit to them, they did well.

“They managed to keep us out of the game but we didn't lose and that was a plus for us. “

Frazsiers Whip went on the attack early in the contest and was rewarded with a goal against an unsettled Real Mona.

A ball over the top found Ricquanna Richards free down the right flank and she was quick to send a low drive into the box.

Able darted in front of her marker to meet the delivery and struck gold with a first-time finish down the centre of the goal.

Shocked by the early goal, Real Mona went searching for the equaliser and found a response just past the half-hour mark.

Marr pickpocketed defender Tavia Gayle in a dangerous position and needed two bites at the cherry to get past goalkeeper Italya Robinson and pull Real Mona level.

Real Mona came close to taking the lead in the second half through the team’s leading goalscorer Olivia Ashbourne.

Monica Bosiljevac sent Ashbourne through on goal with a defence-splitting pass in the 51st minute but Ashbourne was stymied by a brilliant save from Frazsiers Whip goalkeeper Robinson.

Frazsiers Whip had several opportunities to get their second in the dying minutes of the game and secure the win but failed to hit the back of the net.

The best opportunity fell to substitute Danishca Rattray but with the goal at her mercy from a tight angle, Rattray placed the ball over the crossbar.

Frazsiers Whip will enter the final as favourites as they seek their fourth-straight hold on the JWPL title.
