BARCELONA, Spain (AP):
Gabriel Jesus arrived in Barcelona yesterday to finalise a move from Arsenal.
The Brazilian forward said he was “very happy” in a brief exchange with the media at the airport.
Barcelona are reportedly set to pay Arsenal 10 million euros (US$11.6 million), plus add-ons, for the 29-year-old.
Jesus was expected to undergo a medical before signing his contract.
The Brazilian, who underwent major knee surgery in the past, said he was fit and that his knee was “perfect”.
He is expected to help Barcelona make up for their failure to sign Julián Álvarez from Atlético Madrid. The Argentina forward has told Atlético he wants to leave, but the Madrid club has said it will not sell him to Barcelona.
Barcelona have already strengthened their attack with the addition of England forward Anthony Gordon. They lost Robert Lewandowski, who joined the Chicago Fire in Major League Soccer, and Ferran Torres, who moved to Paris Saint-Germain.
