Hermitage Dam decline triggers water restrictions for some Corporate Area communities – NWC

The National Water Commission (NWC) is reporting that it has moved to implement water rationing for thousands of customers served by the Constant Spring Water Treatment Facility in St Andrew as water levels at the Hermitage Dam continue to decline.
The NWC, in a statement on Tuesday, said the restrictions will take effect on Friday, July 3 and are being implemented in an effort to safeguard the remaining water supply and ensure equitable distribution to affected communities.
According to the NWC, the Hermitage Dam is currently at 65.4 per cent of its 393.5 million-gallon capacity, reflecting significantly reduced inflows
Under the water regulation schedule, several communities will receive water nightly between 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.
These include Central Avenue, Honey Hill, Beverlydale, the upper sections of Constant Spring Road, Roehampton, Highland Drive, upper Waterloo, Donmair, Mannings Hill Road, Patrick City, West Avenue, Queensborough, Queensbury, the upper sections of Molynes Road, Molynes Gardens, Perkins, White Hall Avenue, Duhaney Park, Pembroke Hall, Sullivan Avenue, Swansea Avenue, Oaklands, sections of Hughenden, Valentine Gardens, upper Grants Pen, Shortwood Avenue, Meadowbrook Estate, Camperdown, Dunrobin, Ziadie Gardens, Cassava Piece and surrounding communities.
Meanwhile, customers in Eastwood Park Road to Washington Boulevard, the lower sections of Constant Spring Road, Cassia Park, Waltham Park Road, Chisholm Avenue, the lower sections of Molynes Road, Half-Way-Tree Road, Hagley Park Road, Maxfield Avenue, Moreton Park, Richmond Park, Cockburn Gardens, Kencot, Whitfield Town, sections of Cross Roads, Maxfield Park and Lyndhurst Road will receive water daily between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
The NWC noted that, because of differences in location and elevation, not all communities will receive water simultaneously during the scheduled supply periods.
Customers are being urged to store water while supplies are available and to use it sparingly during periods when service is interrupted.
The NWC also advised that customers requiring trucked water can request assistance by contacting its Customer Care Centre toll-free at 888-225-5692.
