No recommendation made yet for new BOJ governor, says search committee

The Search Committee established to find a new Governor of the Bank of Jamaica (BOJ) says no recommendations have yet been made to the Government regarding a shortlist of possible candidates for the position.
The tenure of current Governor Richard Byles ends in August, bringing to a close seven years spent at the forefront of the country’s economic transformation.
Responding to a news article about a frontrunner candidate, the committee, in a statement issued through the Ministry of Finance on Monday, said any announcement prior to the conclusion of the process is speculative and a disservice to all candidates.
“The committee’s work is highly confidential,” it stated.
“The Search Committee would like to reaffirm that the process under way will maintain the highest levels of transparency and integrity,” it noted.
The body said its work is still ongoing and, as such, it will not comment on individual candidates.
