The Inter-Secondary Schools Sports Association (ISSA) has postponed all Schoolboy Football Round of 16 matches scheduled for today due to inclement weather.

The announcement was made by ISSA just hours before the matches were scheduled to kick off.

Six Manning Cup and eight daCosta Cup matches were on today's schedule.

ISSA Competitions Officer Ewan Scott said the decision was made in anticipation of continued rainfall across the island.

“As it says, the rain may continue. Continue can be mild or can be that we have to do for the rest of the week. The decision is to put off for today, and by the end of the day, we'll have a better picture, so we can make further plans,” Scott said.

“An email has been sent already to the schools participating,” he added.

Among the marquee Manning Cup fixtures scheduled was the clash between defending champions Excelsior High and St Catherine High.

In the daCosta Cup, Manchester High were set to face defending champions St Elizabeth Technical High (STETHS), who are on the brink of elimination.

The Meteorological Service of Jamaica reported that a broad trough was expected to develop across Jamaica and the western Caribbean on Tuesday, bringing unstable weather conditions, including showers and thunderstorms, across the island through Saturday.
