LAHORE, Pakistan (CMC):
Former West Indies head coach Ottis Gibson captured his first-ever Pakistan Super League (PSL) title when he led Peshawar Zalmi to a five-wicket victory over Hyderabad Kingsmen in Sunday’s final.
Gibson, who was appointed head coach of the Pakistan franchise earlier this year, helped Zalmi lift the title for the second time, following their maiden success in 2017.
Zalmi benefited from a brilliant all-around performance from Player of the Match Aaron Hardie.
Hardie took a career-best 4-27 from his four overs, as Kingsmen were skittled out for just 129 in 18 overs after being sent in to bat at Gaddafi Stadium.
He then returned to hit an unbeaten 56 off 39 balls, inclusive of nine fours, to rescue Zalmi after they had slipped to 40 for four in their chase.
Together with Abdul Samad, who scored 48, they added 85 runs for the fifth wicket to see Zalmi get up to 130 for five in 15.2 overs.
