Levell heads 10 Jamaicans at LA Track Fest

WORLD Athletics Championships 200 metres bronze medallist Bryan Levell will head 10 Jamaicans athletes who will be in action at today’s Los Angeles Track Fest inside Drake Stadium at the University of California, Los Angeles.

Levell, the fastest Jamaican man so far this season over 100 metres, with a season's best 9.90 seconds joint second on the world top list with American Max Thomas, will be joined by countrymen Akeem Blake and Deandre Daley in the event.

Levell will go up against Thomas, Kyree King and Pjai Austin in the preliminary round, while Blake and Daley will have Ronnie Baker in their heat, with the top eight on time advancing to the final later in the day.

Breakout female sprinter for Jamaica this season, Lavanya Williams, with a season's and personal best 10.96 seconds, will be one of three Jamaican females set to contest the women’s 100m. In her heat, she will match strides with countrywoman Kemba Nelson and American Tamari Davis.

The other Jamaicans in the event, Briana Williams and teenager Theianna-Lee Terrelonge, will go up against the United States’ Jacious Sears.

World Championships representative Amoi Brown and Demeisha Roswell will contest the women’s 100m hurdles where they will face the likes of Americans Nia Ali and Kendra Harrison, the former world record holder.

The other Jamaicans in action today are Candice McLeod who will contest the women’s 400 metres and Lafranz Campbell who will line up in the men’s 110m hurdles.
